Tips for cheery Christmas skin

Still looking for ways to cheer your skin up or simply want to ensure your skin stays merry and bright over the silly season?

I’ve compiled a few tips for cheery Christmas skin:

  • Stay hydrated

Your skin loves a big drink as much as your body does.

How much should you drink depends on your size and activity levels, but as a general rule men need at least 10 glasses of water a day and women need at least 8 (add a couple more glasses if you’re pregnant).

Drinking alcohol this Christmas? Then add a few more glasses! Try drinking one glass of water, for each alcoholic drink (you’ll thank me in the morning).

  • Slap on lots of SPF

Slap on as much SPF as you can throughout summer and the silly season – and do it at least 10 minutes before stepping outside (even if you’re just going to hang out the washing or go for a quick drive to the shops).

Going out for a long day? Pack a mini sunscreen with you to regularly reapply.

Need a new SPF? I stock these summer skin-saving beauties in the salon:

  • Remove your makeup before bed

You should always remove your makeup before your head hits the pillow no matter what. Whilst I know this can be especially difficult during the festive season when you’re tired and perhaps a little too tipsy but it’s extremely important for your skin.

Use a micellar water and double cleanse with a gentle cleanser, followed by a hydrating moisturiser or night cream – and if you’re feeling really adventurous, slap on some eye cream and spray a face mist on before bed too.

Avoid makeup wipes – they are usually full of alcohol and are extremely drying on the skin.

I hope these tips help you spread the cheer this Christmas, to you, your loved ones, and your skin.

And if I don’t see you before Christmas, I wish you and your family a jolly holly Christmas and hope you enjoy the very best time of the year!
