Don’t neglect your neck!

Do you find yourself focusing your skincare routine on your face, forgetting about other areas? You’re certainly not alone.

Often, we forget and as a result neglect a particular area of our body (quite an important one), called the décolleté - the area of skin on your upper chest and neck.

Why is it important to take care of your décolleté, you ask?

Keep reading the latest blog from your trusted Maylands skincare specialist at Beauty at Ab Fab to find out.

What is your décolleté and why shouldn’t you neglect it?

The décolleté is the area of skin on your upper chest and neck and shouldn’t be neglected for several reasons.

Let’s take a look:

It’s very thin and delicate

You might have noticed that the skin on your décolleté is very thin and delicate, and has fewer oil glands than the skin on your face.

This means it’s more susceptible to damage from the sun and other environmental stressors, such as pollution and free radicals. As a result, the skin on your décolleté can become dry, dull, and prone to fine lines and wrinkles. And, we don’t want those.

It doesn’t hide signs of aging

As we age, our skin loses elasticity and collagen, which can lead to sagging and wrinkles – and the décolleté is often one of the first areas to show signs of aging.

It’s an area exposed to the sun

Not surprisingly, it’s an area often exposed to the sun, especially in the summer months.

This can of course cause sunburn and sun damage, resulting in uneven skin tone, dark spots and pigmentation, which can make you look older than you are. And nobody wants that!

Of course, this is a high-risk area for skin cancer when neglected too.

How should you take care of your décolleté?

Not only can taking care of your décolleté reduce dryness, fine lines and wrinkles, hide signs of aging and reduce your risk of sun damage, it can make you feel more confident and comfortable – no more avoiding wearing those low cut tops and dresses with plunging neck lines!

Here are a few tips to help you take care of yours:

Exfoliate regularly

You exfoliate your face, but what about your neck and chest?

Exfoliating your décolleté can help remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover. Use a gentle exfoliant once or twice a week to keep your skin smooth and bright.

Moisturise every day

Just like your face, moisturising your décolleté is essential for keeping your skin hydrated and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Use a moisturiser with hydrating ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid and glycerin.

Apply sunscreen to the area daily

Sunscreen is essential for protecting your décolleté from sun damage, so apply it every single day. Make sure it’s a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ and apply it even in the winter months.

The Sublime Skin Solution

Along with exfoliating, moisturising and applying sunscreen, there’s an exciting and powerful new product you can add to your routine! And of course, it’s from my favourite skincare brand, [ comfort zone ].

Introducing the brand new [ comfort zone ] Sublime Skin Neck & Décolleté Fluid, designed for mature and dry skin, to essentially provide scaffolding and support to the neck and décolleté area, resulting in reinforced, firmed and elasticised skin.

The formula is infused with 98.8% natural-origin and powerful bioactive ingredients, such as jojoba seed extract and anti-aging Achillea Millefolium extract from regenerative agriculture.

Clinically tested by an independent laboratory, this new formula has already been proven to result in smoother, tighter and firmer skin in just 28 days, and reduce the visibility of wrinkles and folders after 56 days.
